Job Title: Laboratory Coordinator
Effective Date: October 2021
Job Duties:
- Coordinate laboratory operations including air pollution/natural gas monitoring system integration, instrument troubleshooting, repair/service and technical service visits to customer sites
- Coordinate integration and service of analytical instrumentation (including gas chromatographs, gaseous analytical instrumentation, particulate matter monitors, and meteorological sensors used in air quality and natural gas monitoring
- Act as a team member by coordinating lab schedule using input from other managers and divisions internal to CAS
- Assist industrial clients and government agencies in monitoring data acquisition and data validation and provide theoretical and practical guidance in the operation of air pollution monitoring systems
- Provide technical assistance to company departments, agencies and organizations; respond to environmental inquiries from representatives of different agencies
- Oversee analytical instrument calibration and validation procedures in accordance with regulatory guidelines and best engineering practices
- Perform data review, data validation, and data flagging and raw data
- Prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical guidance documents for industrial clients and government agencies
- Perform technical training and provide support to monitoring system operators
Field of Study:
- Engineering, Metrology, Environmental science, or closely related field
Special Requirements:
- Preferred 3 years experience with turn-key integration of air quality instrumentation (NOx, CO, O3, SO2, PM, meteorological) and integration of natural gas monitoring instrumentation (mercaptans, H2S, LEL, BTU, H2O, O2)
- Knowledge of analytical methods including gas chromatography, flame ionization, photo-ionization, UV adsorption, fluorescence, electrochemical detection and chemiluminescence
- Understanding of USEPA regulations & guidelines pertaining to National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), Photochemical Assessment Monitoring Stations (PAMS), air toxics, hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), Near-road NO2 monitoring and national core network (NCORE)
- Experience with data loggers and data-logging software
